Family: Boidae Gray, 1825
Aproximatelly 60 species in 13 genera related to the family Boidae distributed in the tropics and semi tropics of the world in south-eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and America. In Arabia there are two species Eryx jayakari BOULENGER, 1888 and Eryx jaculus (LINNAEUS, 1758). The local Name: Ad-Dafan, Ad-Daffan or Al-Bathan. (meaning the one that hides by burying itself in the sand).
